Utah
Angel's Landing, Zion Canyon
We hiked this the same day it was announced that an 80-year old man was scaling the 1000ft face.
Zion Canyon
We stopped on the way back to our tent to nab a couple photos of the canyon walls as the sun was dropping. And then we got cold.
Bryce Canyon
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Bryce Canyon
Just a picture looking up at one of many red, illuminated rock formations down in Bryce Canyon.
Montana
Glacier Nat'l Park... almost
We arrived at the park and it had shut down early for the season. We got pictures of textured trees instead.
'96 Nissan Maxima, Rear Driver's-Side
After driving 180mi on a clear, 14 degree day, we found this semi-natural radial freeze sculpture on the hubcap.
Wyoming
Yellowstone
It was a balmy 38 degrees on this November afternoon at a hot springs in the country's first National Park.
Yellowstone
My brother and I played scofflaw a bit on this one... fortunately no Bison, Elk, or Park Rangers caught us taking this picture.
Kauai, Hawaii
Hanakapia Trail
This trail on the northern shore of the island leads to a very nice beach. If you follow the river up from said beach you reach a very nice, secluded (and tricky to photograph) waterfall.
Na Pali Coast State Park
Even in the state with the "best" beaches, my brother and I still preferred to spend most of our time in the mountains. Kauai's are spectacular.
Hanakapia Beach
On returning from the Hanakapia Tral (the second time we hiked it...) we were greeted by an attractive sunset.
Na Pali Coast State Park
Much of Kauai - "the wettest place on Earth" - is rainforest at around 4,000ft. This particular trail featured several miles of catwalk layed over swamp.
California (rocks!)
Barker Dam, Joshua Tree
Mr. Barker was raising cattle in yucca valley. He needed to hold on to what precious water he could. He built a small dam. I stood on the dam. I took a picture.
Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree is full of boulders to clambor around on - just don't reach into any crevaces or you might get bitten by a snake. This was a nice configuration of boulders at sunset, so I took a picture instead of climbing.
Joshua Tree
The sun quickly abandoned Joshua Tree... and I never even got a chance to take a wannabe U2 photo.
Half Dome, Yosemite
Exulting after reaching the top of the Dome/2, my brother says "It's a big rock... it's this big!".
Actually, bro, it's a little bigger than that.
